When you create an account, we collect your email address and optional name. When you use the scanner, we log the URLs and keywords you analyze along with the resulting scores.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the GenCite service: authenticating your account, tracking scan usage against your monthly limit, and maintaining your scan history.

3. Third-Party Services

We use OpenAI's API to perform content analysis. The page content you scan is sent to OpenAI for processing. We do not share your personal information (email, name) with third parties.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase. Passwords are hashed. Sessions use secure HTTP-only cookies with SameSite protection.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Scan history is retained for up to 12 months. You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at support@gencite.app for any data requests.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the email associated with your account.
